Why, hello there! I’m Laura, the recipe developer, photographer, and content creator behind the Friendly Vegan Kitchen! I’m a long time vegan who loves turning classic desserts and comfort food into amazing plant based recipes that impress everyone and that everyone can make!

Here at Friendly Vegan Kitchen, we specialize in creating baked vegan recipes to satisfy any sweet tooth!

From classic chocolate cakes to cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning, all the recipes on the blog are designed to satisfy everyone, vegan or not.

The Ingredients

When I first went vegan, I had no idea what vital wheat gluten or nutritional yeast was, let alone how to use it in a recipe! That’s why my recipes are developed with the beginning vegan in mind. Most recipes are crafted using simple and easily available ingredients from your local grocery stores.

Food is the ingredient that brings us together.

Tested Recipes

Quality recipes are the literal bread and vegan butter of the Friendly Vegan Kitchen. Every single recipe on the blog are tried and tested multiple times before they are published and tasted by my official taste testers (a.k.a. my friends and family, both vegan and non-vegan a like!). And you can be confident that I’m sharing with you all my secrets after being vegetarian and vegan for over 14 years!

I don’t use AI to generate recipes. I don’t use AI to generate photos. Everything you see and read here is authentically me.

More About Laura

My adventures into vegan cooking and baking began over 14 years ago. I began baking for my friends who were also vegan and it became a weekly tradition that at the Friday night jam session, I would bring a new flavor of vegan cupcakes to share with everyone!

Over the years I went back and forth on being vegan, vegetarian, and an omnivore. That all changed in 2022 when I was diagnosed as diabetic. I knew I had to change my lifestyle to see real change.

Overnight, I went Whole Foods Plant Based and in 9 months, I reversed my diabetes diagnosis.

Ever since then, I’ve committed to this vegan lifestyle as I’ve seen the effects it has on me, my family, my community, and the planet. There are so many reasons to go vegan, I can’t pick just one!

Finally, some fun fast facts about me:

  • I have an undergrad degree in Art History, specializing in Buddhist art and architecture
  • I have my Master’s of Business, specializing in the Creative Economies
  • My favorite food of all time is a tie between pizza and tacos
  • Cross country road trips are my favorite vacations
  • My dog is the unofficial taste tester supreme who has the first bite on a lot of the recipes here!
